I have just discovered the Ewart Library in Dumfries. I have been a regular visitor to Dumfries and Galloway since the 1960s but have only recently discovered the family connections. I was prompted by research for my 'immortal memory' address at a local Burn's Supper. For more about my family visit the web site www.ewartfamily.co.uk

Hello members of the Ewart family clan worldwide.People researching family histories may find the website freebmd.org.uk helpful.Came across Ewarton in Jamaica by chance back in the 1970's when travelling across the country.Always wondered about it's origins. I'm from the city of Liverpool in the U.K.and having looked back through census and B.M.D records, it seems like there was quite a cluster of Ewart families around that area.My G.G.father Robert Ewart was a seaman who was born in the Border areas of Scotland who married a lady from the south of England and ending his days in Liverpool.Unfortunately all the people who could have given me information on my forebears have passed on so, I guess I'll never really find out the full story how we arrived where we are today.Perhaps I should have shown more interest when I was younger I think.

Our family has many members with autism. I'm curious if other Ewarts have experienced a high incidence of autism in their family lines. Please respond.

Enjoyed the site. My father, George, was the last managing director of Ewart and Son, so interesting to see the info on that.

I actually live there now and to find it you turn down the lane at the signpost for Akeld Steads and Ewart, follow the road until a large wall starts on your left. Follow this wall for a couple of hundred yards to where it ends at a couple of cottages. There is a lane on your right with a Royal Mail postbox in the wall and a wooden sign above the box with Ewart Newtown carved into it. From here you can also see the hotel.
